Sure thing! ALL ships are welcome here. That's the whole purpose of this thread, to inspire and conspire. Errr, collaborate I meant to say. The ships that have been posted are GREAT, and have inspired me with new ideas. Hopefully it will do the same for you and others.

Your ship looks great by the way. Definitely shows the Daedalus bloodlines. Keep up the good work. And keep modeling!!

Doesn't the Daedalus carry MK8's as standard equipment? The MK9's are a "special" butt whooping bomb when a MK8 just doesn't cut it, right? Don't mind me, I just like large explosions. (Hense my steady diet of beans and cabbage.)

okay, so where in my crazy dilusional mind did I come up with the MK8's? I thought I heard MK8 used somewhere. I swear I'm not going insane.

Yes you are.

I just dont see earth's fleet evolving into the classic multi-class ship fleet (Battleships, cruisers, destroyers).

For one modern wet navies don't operate like that anymore, and two, the Air Force decides what it wants onboard each ship, and they will undoubtidly take non-traditional approach. Plus smaller ships will just not have the range of the larger ships, and hence a mothership type approach will probably be used. Basically a battleship carrying its own escorting small craft (be they bombers, fighters, shuttles/dropships etc)

Whatever classes that do come about will be oriented around missions, not size/how many guns. What the classes are called (Battlecruiser, frigate etc) is not really important.

I think the main warships will evolve similar to the Deadalus. She is fast, carries enough fighters for a proper air wing and carries missiles, nukes and jumpers. She kills whatever she can with beaming and nukes, unless they have shields, at which point they run away.

I think the beam nuking will be the primary weapon on all earth ships. The only advanced weaponry they need is to knock out shields, at which point the beam a nuke over strategy is played. So even if ships get big asgard energy weapons, they will still be used only to take out shields, not blow up ships. Nukes are just more efficient than a big assed energy weapon. No need for huge reactors for ship killing space guns of death. Just beam over a care package and there you have it. If she ship has shields, have your advanced weapons take out the shield generators, or possibly develop methods for the fighters to take them out, and then beam on over your checkmate box.

Ship classes I can see:
Large first rate warships (lots of everything, long range)
Smaller pocket warships (short range, lots of firepower) for system defense and in-the galaxy missions
Fighters
Human version of Jumpers and Gould shuttles for assaults (think MH-60)
Human cargo small craft (landable on the ships and surface think C-17, C-5ish)

Maybe some courier/recon ships for long range small foot print missions or such.

Sorry I started to ramble.

Here's the final version of the Hyperion before I begin texturing it. Glad it could have been inspiration to ya. The models here are looking great. GO FREEKZILLA!

or you could go with the american style carrier fleet (1 or 2 carriers and a number of support ships)

Awe shucks! Thanks. My models, even though they are done in Bryce, are slowly inching up in quality. Looking back at some of my first tries, I think to myself Dang those suck. Seriously! In the last five months they've progressed from being an embarrassment to respectable.

I've been thinking about some new designs lately. Not sure how different I want to go with it.

I wish we all could put together a little battle sequence, like the ones they have at Space Battles. I think it'd be cool to see something like that, and the workload could be divided up amongst several people. It's be cool, but I think most people don't really have the time for something like that. I helped some of my college friends put together a Star Wars light sabre battle once for a school project, and I tell you the end result was pretty damn good. Ah well. It was an idea, a lofty one, but a fun one. For now, I'll keep plugging away at learning 3d Max.

Here's some ideas just in case you've hit a brain fart; like I get those every other day.

a mobile repair ship with robot arms to repair damaged Tau' ri (Earth) ships.
a Tau'ri mass evacuation ship (in case the Ori can't be stopped)
a hypothetical design of a Furling ship.
an earth based competitor to the Goa'uld Al'Kesh design
an orbital station based on earth technologies

There, that should have your mind percolating at high sub-light speeds. Keep up the good work. Your ship is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see what textures will do. Hoooaaah!
