Thanks Lord Erisu, I wish I would have read your post before doing these renders . . . here is a new set . . .
Still have issues with the glass, and i am REALLY not happy with the stone/marble textures . . . too me it seems a culture is growing but in my mind I have no idea of what that culture is . . ( if you understand what I mean).
The age of the settlement is fairly new definately with the last 10 years but the culture is more refined as humans which would suggest the stone and marble . . anyway I need to figure this out a bit more . .
I think I am going to contine to build and sus out textures as I go.

If its an advanced culture, it'd be marble and some sort of metal type construct. So why stone?? And there wouldn't be any need for cracks either. When I look at it, I see cracks anyway.

that's so sweet.

But two things:
-The light in the walkway are still a bit dark for a glass-roof.
-Whatfor do you have a gate at the ground level?

I guess the cracks are some preprogramed response addressing the need to add dirt to everything. But you are absolutely right about that, (why are there cracks) . . . .
When I say stone I mainly mean materials like Lime Stone or some other workable surface like Slate, and not so much rocks and cobble, although I had an idea of cobble stone streets yesturday.
Dang this is way too confusing . . . . see the problem with the marble is it may be hard to justify this type of material when constructing a multi-layered dome . . . it just doesn't seem "futuristic" enough. I could jump to metals as a building material but then I would have to adjust the architecture style 'cause metal doesn't work here . . and I am really attached to thepesent style I am building . . .

Anyway the enjoyment is in the work .

I know I have to just take some glass surfaces into Layout and try different settings on it . . .

The Gates are just passageways from the sidewalk to the street, a shortcut if you will. Remeber humans love to take short cuts and dart out in the middle of traffic. Getting hit by moving objects is high on our list . .

Theres a way around that.

And in places, I think you'll have to include some metal type materials, I think on the reactors for one. Could always use the marble as 'tiles' too, might be cheaper .

Well, I thought there's water under the bridge (you said bridge for waterways), so it would have been illogical to let a gate rush you right into the local river.

I know right . . left turn * hey Bill I was wondering . . splash!*
no seriously though those will probably work as waterway bridges as well but mostly they are bult as roadway . . . I am sure they will be a set with no gates in them . . . this place is going to be big.

started working on another structure . . . this is a commerce building which goes underground in a pool of water located dead center of the 1st level floor plan. It will go 100ft down, 5 levels of doubles 20 ft each.

This image is one set of the double layers, each layer has 2 floors 10ft each.

Only the first level's roof will be above the water line and used for entrance purposes.
