Purgatorian Guard

A character for my universe.
The latest image represents around 3.5 hours of work, not including concept scribbles, etc.

Erm, what to put here.

The Purgatorian guard are from my universe. They are members of the choir military transplanted into artificial bodies - ala 40k dreadnought.
Inspiration for the form came from three places: Transmutate from Beast Wars, the Jaffa guard from Stargate the movie (and the work of Fong Zou re-imagining them) and Doug Chiang.

I really dont want to model the hands... I dont even know where to start on those.

Eewwww, hands and feet.

Not too much a fan of them right now, but tonight I might still rig them and see how they look during a pose.

its an interesting design. im looking forward to the finished deal! they look very symbolic but not very imposing or threatening. the feet look weird tho.. i would try something diferent

btw, you do mean purgatorian as in "from purgatory", right?

Thank you both.

Yes, Purgatorian as in Purgatory.
The idea is that this shell holds the essence of honored fighters, kind of like the Warhammer 40k Dreadnaught or Protoss Dragoon.
Purgatory seemed appropriate for an alien species that inspired the idea of angels in our early history.

hands just about done - all i need to do is angle the thumbs downward some, and thats that.

Then its onto the feet, and then finally detailing.

Side view shows its really not that bulky.
