| Hallway Monitor | yep in theory... if I can figure out how to rig them... the lower sails will raise up to vertical, or there abouts, and adjust themselves to allow it to focus better ![]() Cheers guys! |

| Very nice, Comb! I am continually impressed with your skills, mate!Just curious, if you could have a system that would let you be able to render the whole thing, what would it be? Now, I know half the fleet in here would name off the biggest, baddest system on the planet, but I don't want to hear that... what would be the system that would give you the proper elements to do the station to your liking? |

| Hallway Monitor | Commander -> The baddest system on the planet I would probably need a 64 bit machine with 6-8 gigs of memory, and as many cores in it as was possible, to bring the render times down to acceptable levels to do an animation in under 3 years per second ![]() elohim-supreme - err that's not a simple thing to answer I have divided my panels up between a number of surfaces with different mapping coords and specular values and textures - which gives the effect of each one being a little different without hand painting them all.I did a little tutorial on how I make my panels here -> http://www.3dghetto.com/tobian/Paneling2.zip It's for LW but you might find it informative. I just divide up the object into a grid then start bevel-insetting and notching. Takes ages, but yields excellent results! ![]() As for the reflection shading... uh... Won't help you much in Max ![]() Thanks for the compliments guys |
