Shoooo! The cloaking device works fine thanks :P

The shot is lit with one key light (area) I added a little bounce light from behind as it was looking a little flat back there (area) and my usual background gradient image, then all lit using radiosity, and I added some ambient occlusion to the surfaces, but I am deciding if it's too much or not.. it certainly helps with defining some of the panels!

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

It does exist... just not as high a detail as that lot! :P So I don't show them together

Well, I really like the lighting as it is now, so my vote is to leave it for now...

Needless to say that approach to lighting is not for the feint hearted, or those who don't have Fprime

Hehe aww I'm sure that's not true! (note to self, look at Freaks model when I get home)

Most of what I'm doing is just repetion.. a LOT of it It's like in Photoshop. 90% of your work involves the same 10% of the tools, it's just using them in creative ways and knowing how to use them. About 50% of my modelling time is spent swivelling the model, 40% fixing some horrible mesh error or cleaning away unused polygons and about 10% doing anything productive

My best advice is to start from your main shapes, and then get down to progressively smaller detail. I see too often people adding greebles to unfinished main shapes! That's inviting problems! that and chamfer and or round any obtuse edges.. which can be easy or horrific depending on your software

Yeah, I'm always confused when I see people doing that...
