This station is absolutely remarkable. I would hate to see the file size of it though.

How long does it take to render these hanger drawings?

Also did you mean to have the reflection of the red pattern on the floor, on the ceiling in the workbee hanger render?

well how would it look if the ceiling was reflecting everything else but magically ignoring the floor

I pity the fool!

Aaaaaaaaaaggggggeeeeeesssssss

Hmm well I use F-prime, which is a progressive renderer. So technically it takes about 10 minutes Of course it's crappy, so I leave it to refine the image, which may take as much as 8 hours!!! Usually I can get decent results in a few hours. Thank goodness I need to sleep occasionally! The scene is all lit by a combination of radiosity and soft blur reflections. Try it in any renderer and it'll give it a bad day

Yeah that's the problem with using that dark red material is it reflects heavily. I'll probably lighten it somewhat, and put some thinner lines, but that was just blocking out the patterns I wanted. It's an unfortunate side effect of radiosity and reflection - you often get colour bleed you didn't really want!

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

I don't think there'd be much benefit modelling it in Nurbs, because there's no horrible compound curves, which do lend themselves to that type of modelling!
Come on, load the entire model in Modeler and then hit the 'Tab' key. Don't hesitate, you know you want it.

I think it would crash at the 'loading the whole model into modeler' part - never mind the tab key

and err - other than being silly, It's not exactly going to auto smooth it without extensive edge weightings Still I could then do micro-poly displacement.....

Ok I decided to render the back end of the bay, just to try out a slightly different metal finish on the panels, so they are a more white painted metal than brushed metal, and i may lowew the turbulence a little, but I am fairly happy... and yes, it took AGES to render, I had to leave it overnight

Cheers Glazy Not sure why there's a red halo round some of the light reflections, it almost looks like chromatic abberations (which I could do but.... MORE RENDER TIME hehe). A little Serendipity
