Yep Dented, modified with a gradient.. it's a cool texture! I believe I used the perlin noise type, but all of them are quite cool and err it's shiny because it's behind glass - the edge of which you can see in the render I should make that a bit thicker actually

It's not a 'secret of the masters' it's just down to fiddling round with the settings a lot

Here's my surface settings. FYI I have the material set to reflect a small black pic, because sometimes my backdrop isn't black, and I get wierd blue reflections of the environment I don't want Hope it makes sense. Oh and the scale is tiny because the model is quite small.

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

Yeah that's the kind of direction I was going for, and the main engineering in the Enterprise Refit. Little bit of a mix

Aw, always those lightwave procedurals
....say, how many versions of Lightwave could I go back and still have all or most of these nice procedurals? I might need to get an old LW just for the procedurals

Hehe not sure what the benefits of that would be? the whole joy of procedurals is they are 3d, scalable, and they don't repeat (well sorta they do, but not exactly). Rendering them out would lose you a lot of those advantages, and making them into a tileable image could be a right pain! The metal texture is just done in Photoshop using the 'threads' plugin.. very cool stuff!

Cheers Ozylot. Bah I'm having a really sucky connection today, disconnected every 30 seconds to ten minutes, and then having to redial 20 or 40 times - sucks for BROADBAND! it's like the bad old days of dialup!

That's why you drink Jack Daniels, Jim Beam or Captain Morgan's with your candy.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't checked out this thread earlier. Great stuff. I love what you're doing with this station. I also really love that particle beam render you posted a few pages back.
