Yes that's right, that's the coffee stirrer, I've gone into detailing at the subquantum level

You can see where that is in this older shot http://comby.star-fleet.org/test-irml.jpg which is closer to a FSR The main differences is I dropped the copper sheath off the other end and I added in the monitoring room aaaaaannnnddd... a shed load of detail

I'm up for that Freak, so long as you fly us down, yes

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

BTW, not to be a nitpicker, but what exactly is that arm for? i see one of them is a solar collector and the other looks to be a ship docking station, but this arm seems to have no purpose that i can tell, other than the canisters inside it.

*ahem* it is labelled 'telescope arm overview'

It is a large subspace telescope array. The 'solar collectors' are actually subspace tranciever assemblies, as this station is just one large sensor and signal relay station

Have you not just tried making a disk/tube with 6 sides on it?

Originally I think I drew them in illustrator, and imported them, it's been some time since I did it

doh, keep forgetting about that, probably due to the fact that they never rescale right for me.

The updated finish, with soft blurring reflection based speculars. It's quite subtle, but you can see it paying off in a few areas
