I would bet that they fudged things quite a lot, actually. Why wouldn't they? Bay's camera work and editing were frenetic. Nobody would ever catch it.

But in alot of cases it was also extreamly close up, and after seeing it 3 times I can say I didn't notice any. Might go see it again today just for good measure.

In the movie I think they did make everything work. I remember someone saying prime was made of like 10,000 parts and they all sort of interacted with each other so it could transform.

Actualy I found this online and its the guy who did the modelling for all the robots in the movie Might come in handy but it is a really great site he did Superman Returns aswell..

BEN PROCTER // ONLINE PORTFOLIO

On a side note though the new transformers movie is really amazing like I really couldnt belive my eyes when i seening them transform on the screen and they all had a good deal of personality to them just like the series in the 80's so I was really well impressed by it

I actually found that site a couple of days ago he has a great high res image of devistator, which I have been looking for ....for.....no specific reason.......

But I am fixing up blackout from the images that he has there. Not just that but You tube has alot of clips from the movie that I'm sure will be taken down real soon so I would have a look while you can.

peace

Wow, there you go. ILM took 6 months worth of animating to get the transformations down.

From Wiki:

Industrial Light & Magic created computer-generated transformations over six months in 2005, looking at every inch of the models and making sure none of the car pieces conflicted during the simulations. Initially they were designed to follow the laws of physics, but it did not look exciting enough and was changed to be more fluid. One decision made was that the wheels should stay on the ground for as long as possible, allowing the robots to cruise around as they changed. Due to the intricate designs of the Transformers, even the simplest notion of turning a wrist requires seventeen visible pieces, while each of Ironhide's guns is made of ten thousand parts. Such detail required thirty-eight hours to render each frame of animation, which meant ILM had to increase their processing facilities. Each rendered piece had to look like real metal, shiny or dull. Photographs were taken of each set and had a lighting environment produced within a computer so the robots would look like they were convincingly moving there. ILM created the 430 shots of the thirteen primary robots, while Digital Domain and others created minor shots, including a vending machine mutated by the Allspark.

Yeah, that's not really surprising, given the complexity of the new transformations and the fact that they're doing it realistically this time around. It's a lot quicker when you're just drawing it and you can make it do whatever you want.

I Rebuilt Blackouts forearms to resemble the movie version more then the toys (alot rounder), I also added alot more little details.

Useing what I've learned with Blackout I decided to model a couple more transformers just for fun. Bonecrusher (my brothers favorite) and Devastator/Brawl (my second favorite). The other reason I decided to do bonecrusher is SakuraTakeda's Optimus . I also would like to do Barricade but I think I will need to find a free model of the new mustang. I dont think I could model that one.

Great work. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on the new Transformers you're making. It would be sweet if you got that Mustang model, Barricade is cool.
