One other thing to remember is that that plasma is several times hotter than the sun, therefore is should be brighter than the sun. You seem to about right, the cones will be where the brightest, densest plasma will be.

I missed some really great progress on this. I love the radar, kinetic kill vehicles, and the exhaust with white in it for the hydrogen or oxygen. On the matter of plasma, if it's gas and it's glowing, then it's plasma. That means even a fire from a log is plasma. It's all just a matter of ionization. I read the Manxome Foe recently, they had a visual spectrum telescope consisting of five, circularly arranged, telescopes. The book said an arrangement of five was a common one but I can't find info on it. I have a personal request for you, TheUnlogicalOne, that I'm going to PM you.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been very busy with school and likely will be for the foreseeable future. Feel free to ask questions though and I'll answer them when I pass through from time to time. As for the speed of the ship... Its completely coincidental, I just didn't take care to keep the distorted area of the spherical mapping out of the image. I stretched a square image over a ball unfortunately giving some funny effects at the poles. I've never actually considered what space would really look like at high speed. I'll need to remember that for the future in case I need the effect! The ship is really just for intra-solar system work at best, probably not even getting past Jupiter on a regular basis.

It would be great to see more logically designed stuff around here (don't get me started on Star Trek designs ).It can be great fun (at least I think so) trying to consider all the problems you might face with a design like this. It is not so far fetched as to be impossible but also not so everyday as to be boring or already done.

Well, it has been a while but I had a bit of free time. I decided to try a more finished image than normal just for fun. I made 3 attempts. Honestly I think all 3 are rather awful. I'm just not much good at composition and the artistic stuff. I figured I would post them anyways though. I think the middle one turned out the best. ![]() ![]()

The middle one is the best but if the first one had the ship next to a space station it could be the better image. Would the exhaust plumes really be that length?

A station might improve it, but that would require making one! As for the plumes, I haven't the slightest idea what they should look like. I guess the engines could be at full power giving maximum power instead of efficiency.

| Very nice to see a design respecting real-world limitations. The ship looks great, very realistic. It surely is quite vulnerable being mainly filled only with propellant in fragile tanks. Very nice! To the composition: try to move camera away from Earth. Not to move it further, only rotate so the planet doesn't take up so much area. Now, Earth is too distracting, because it is more detailed than the ship. So make the Earth less visible. You want the ship to stand out, so you have to create contrast between the subject and background. Quote:
