I stare at it sometimes and thinK "what the hell have i started!". im not sure what this thing is going to end up like at the moment, but Ive been thinking that two of these puppies strapped to a big long pointy thing with guns would be nice. Frigate sized, with a chunky main cannon on top and other stuff that whirrs and hums. Its hard to guage as i work inside out and its all from my head. Iv'e got some time over the weekend to post some serious progress, with any luck. Got a few previous wips from ages ago which im gonna prettify and post, see if any of them are worth tinkering with. Was during an apparent boolian obsession so so apologies in advance for some messy meshes ![]() |

Downloads: 0 Uploads: 0 | it seems like ages since I've posted and i think that I've made no progress yet looking back it looks like i may have got somewhere worth showing. Here are some new renders of progress. I've continued with the greebling and detailing on the engine(s) as well as locking it together with the other engine in the rear assembly. Also, as you may see, I have blocked in an idea of what this thing would look like. Anyway, look and enjoy and any comments and suggestions (or general adulation would be nice :P) would be much appreciated. Bo |

If there's anything people would like a close up of or to see better then give me a shout. I'm sure i can run off a few renders |

I am aiming for a frigate sized heavy assault vehicle, perhaps 100 to 150 meters long. There are no obvious small details to scale it to at the moment. But they will come. As I carry on i think it will become clearer how big it is. As i said before, this is from my head, and I've been working insode out so its hard to guage at the moment. thanks again Bo |

You have lots of details, but you're modeling it like we use to do in the mid-90s. it's mostly boxs on top of eachother. None of your edges are ether beveled or rounded, so it screams CG and will even painted. Simply update your modeling techiques and it will look 100% better i'm sure. |

I am envisioning this in a series of passes. This would be the first pass, blocking in all the shapes and positions of main equipment, seeing how it all fits together and how it would look in variously angled renders. Then the next pass would be locking down all the main bits, tying/joining them together. finally I would come around to beveling and rounding the candidate parts. Some of it i would like to keep kinda sharp edged but that would be a subjective process and I'm not at that stage yet. In the later 2 stages i would be rebuilding various parts to fit with their surroundings. What do you mean by updating my modeling techniques? I have been using Maya for some years so I like to think I understand most concepts, I was wondering if there was anything i've missed. |
