Truespace backstept's junkyard

I got the idea for this shape in the shower of all places . . . not quite sure of the story behind it
it's not based on the Homeworld 2 Dreadnaught, though it is similar
I think I was inspired by the lockheed cormorant ucav design and it grew from there to include inspiration from Shade's Protector, and the HW2 Dreadnaught

obviously this is a very low poly beginning (68 to be precise)

the name Derrida is for Jacques Derrida, a French Philosopher

I imagine the ship will be quite similar in size to the dreadnaught

using radiosity just for kicks
though I guess it's not one of TS's better features better off faking it

sorry for the rambling . . . it's late and I can't think in complete . . . umm, sentences . . . yeah

see you tomorrow folks!

oh and uh, the front is the bottom left of the first picture, top right of the second and front'n'center in the third in case there's confusion

I have to agree... that particular brand of Radiosity is less then satisfactory.

Although the overall shape has a promising start. Looking forward to this one.

yeah it took forever to calculate and it looks like crap
I think they just stuffed it in there so it would look good on the features list
just another bell with matching whistle

I bet it'd look much better in Kerky

Yeah, Radiosity in tS blows. As you say, you're better off faking it.

That being said, I like the shape of this so far. I can't wait to see where it goes.

I really hope so
a lot of my previous projects, I try and go back and restart but sometimes I just don't like the ship anymore, and working on it again would feel like a chore so it goes in the boneyard so to speak
hopefully this one stays with me as long as Cygnus did (which is now available in OBJ format by the way )
