As soon as i'm happy the model is comlplete i'll post wallpapers etc, not quite there yet though..

I have been busy with tests for the rotor blades, it's taken me a while but i'm getting there. It's rendering now and i'll show the results as soon as there finished..

As for the rest i've started to go a bit over board. As you'll be able to see everything in the cockpit of blue thunder i'll have to model the pilot, so i thought i'd start with Hawk in airwolf. And here is a wireframe of the cockpit. Dom in the back shouldn't need to modeled as you'll probably never see him..

Here is the latest version of this test clip. Now with a 3d pilot, working suspension, added detail, a whole new ADF pod (the rocket launcher), a little lens flare, refined dust and a completely different style of doing the rotor blades (scene motion blur instead of vector), the speed of the blades can now be changed easily..

To keep the render times down i render this in layers, so only the rotor blades had to be rendered 16 times (for the scene motion blur x16). The nightmare came compositing the blades onto the heli. I couldn't use the alpha chanel as the heli had to be there to obscure the blades, so the alpha wasn't clean. So i went for a green screen, using the matte function of the compositing tag to make airwolf clean pure green. I used a compositing tag on the sky object and unchecked the seen by camera (so hdri and reflections would still work), then made a backdrop of pure green.

I'm doing some work for my showreel right now, but after that i'll be coming back to this clip..

When i come back to this clip i will have some new ideas for the clip.

One thing i must point out for now is I made airwolf, not a bell 222a. And my airwolf will perform to the specs of airwolf. What was hinted at in the show, with comments from characters or clever editing of the chopper, is what mine will do.

For example the whole 10 minutes to start, not good for a one of a kind attack platform. If you remember the start motage for airwolf (where the music would kick in each episode). There was a counter that began on 50 or so, not 600 seconds..

Back soon..

Not to mention they once pushed it out of the back of a plane, and started it up before it fell to the ground.
