Looks good! These new panels work very well.

To fix your mirroring problem, I would suggest using the advanced flatten. (Assuming your mirroring along the X axis) left click on flatten, and then right click on X, then use an edge or vert (of another mirror) from an object that is mirrored properly as your reference point.

I fixed the mirroring problem. I was using the navigational deflector dome as a reference point, and somehow it had been moved off-center slightly. I am still not sure what is causing the mesh errors, however. all the correct edges are hardened, there are no loose vertexes, all the faces are flat... and what's more, I can't see the errors in Wings (tab mode). I did a HUGE render to use as reference when I go back to try again... here's a wire, if anyone's interested.

Under view, there is an option called two lights, this changes the shading mode in wings and may make it possible to see smoothing problems you might not have been aware of.

Looking great! Keep it up!

And if you find me to be getting annoying by all means do tell me to shut up

LOL, if *you* find *me* getting annoying, by all means do tell me to put your name on the model as a technical consultant

the two lights option make the whole thing easier to look at in general, thanks.

rebuilding the "problem panels," using the manual booleans to straighten edges as I go. so far, so good. some redesign as well (why not?), especially on the outer edge around the cargo door panel. pretty satisfied.

whole top completed. the edges of that one panel on the rim by the cargo door must not be properly hardened. there are a few remaining errors and I'm trying my best to figure out how to get rid of them; some of those panels are completely rebuilt and the errors still show up. oh well, I'll keep at it. I'll be taking a break and working on the underside soon, just for a change of pace. happy holidays, all!

Im not sure if im missing something you said, but are these smooth problems occurring in Kerky or wings?

You definitely got the shape though! Great stuff!

okay... after hours of work, and then again, I've been very frustrated. I know that I should have only quads or tris to avoid mesh errors. HOWEVER, look what happens...

when I fix up everything as quads, I get more errors. When I make it all tris, I get even more. The cleanest model is the one that I left with lots of 5+sided faces and let Kerky triangulate on its own.

...any ideas?
