I'm drawing the underdeck now. Any opinions on how hard I should try to add an escape pod or two? Remember, supposedly even midsize shuttles have escape pods of some sort ("Lower Decks" -though I assume they're just something like a modified probe casing, couldn't be much bigger, anyway). Maybe put something bigger? Like small car-sized?

[edit] something like this maybe, individual pods, accessible from those areas off the flight deck. obviously a very quick-n-dirty mock-up, but you get the idea.

Looks really nice and love the idea of the escape pods. The Delta Flyer had those little torpedo casing-sized ones, and really it doesn't need to be anything bigger if you're going to have individual ones. Makes mroe sense than having a big one, anyways, for a ship that small, and you've got the placing really well fit.

Agreed... totally. I love what you've done with this... I absolutely love the interior layout and look you've chosen, and the fact that you have put so much real thought into this makes it certain that the end result will kick ass bigtime.

Not only are you the first person to FULLY model the Calypso, but I think you'll also be going down as the first person to ever fully model both a sonic shower, and a Starfleet toilet!

Seriously awesome work. This deserves to be headered. BTW, your sig says you're in SoCal... whereabouts? I'm in Torrance.

Ensign "Sir our shuttles are not powerful enough to penetrate the shields of that facility. Perhaps we should employ the Calypso which may be powerful enough to get through"

Captain reminiscing of shag carpet and self installed 16 speaker stereo system.

Captain "Perhaps ensign you should STFU and think of another strategy to get through"

Captain *under breath* "...no one messes with my ride"

After that episode the Calypso pretty much drops off the map.

Why did I suddenly hear myself in command of a starship? "Perhaps ensign, you should STFU" lmao

lol, that's a great idea...! I don't think I'm skilled enough to do that. Maybe the *Greeble Eater* would model some shag carpeting and I'll put it in...? totally.

THANKS SO MUCH, everyone, for such positive responses. I'll post the underdeck drawing (almost done) tonight. And I'm working on an escape pod design that'll launch like those "torpedo-pods" but will be about 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5m and hold 4 seated.

bolian, I'm in Riverside, Arlington area.

thanks again, everyone

it was worth asking. I guess I'll just have to learn how to texture.

anyway, it's not done, but I'm not finishing it tonight. so enjoy! I still have to install SIF/IDF/shield generators, sensors, log buoy, subspace transceivers, transporter emitters, the replicator, tractor mooring emitters, and docking latches. (the navigational deflector is under the blue dome on top, and the computer will be immediately under the flight deck -not visible in this view.) And of course, I have to finish the symmetry and duplicate all those damn aerodyne thrusters. Who knew this thing can do mach 20?

So are you going to model all those parts? is there even room for them?
