blender

a small update again.
I changed the main hull of the ship.
As shown in the first pic the hull was ... uhm... blocky.
I recreated a much smoother version wich will allow me to do a better job with the insets for the greeble and the panneling.
I also slightly modified the "struts"of the pods or nacelles.

some story around the PAX-15:
The ship was launched 400 years ago as a testbed for a new propulsion type of some kind... don't know what yet since archeological work is still in progress.
Unfortunatly during construction of the ship a lethal disease appeared on the homeworld and the ship was used to go into deep-space to find other civilisations and a possible cure. the crew... unfortunatly also infected died during their mission before the could find anyone... resulting in the extiction of the species. the ship... lost in space as a last remnant of a lost civilisation.

thats all that was found in the databases about the race who build tha ship... they apparantly didn't have time to fill the computer core with a full cultural database but translationis still underway

and no... I didn't smoke pot :P

Anyway... excuse my bad english... its very late here

Still have some work on the engines, bridge module and pods (nacelles) to make them smoother
C&C welcome as allways... more updates later

some updates... although minor tweaks should be a better description.

I changed the engines. made some smoother version. transfomed the greebles at the back... but it still needs some work.
Added also some stuff in the front of the pods.
They are actually some kind off bussards but then again... they are not.
the technical database of the ship reveals that they are some kind of gravity focusing grids. Apparantly the experimental engine that this ship was build for is gravity based. mode details later.
Still needs more work on the front. don't know yet what direction to take there... input from the community welcomed.

njoy

Thanks. Its indeed a bit off it all.
But then again... its made in blender

anyhow
more facts...

The main engines work by focusing the gravity of stars where its pointed at. even a tiny tiny tiny bit is sufficient to get it going. it is able to achieve FTL. although it will not accelerate like a federation ship by getting warp9 in 0.001sec the acceleration is phenomenal.
The sensation without inertial dampening is like a continuous free fall where you get faster and faster and faster and...
The focusing apparently gets it motion by the pull of the focussed gravity and enhanced its effect somehow... the mass of the ship is reduced to zero to gain advantage of the focussed gravity pull. A fusion reactor helps to reduces the mass by some unknown effect.
It seems the Eyans (from Eyania) have mastered gravity and mass related stuff and where testing their first engine of this type to travel to the stars.

Okay...my friend...please be carefull with posts like these. Otherwise you will end up with about a dosen of people agruing and fighting each other (like there is no tomorrow) about you have just said. One of may even be a physics prof. Then you will end up with your thread looking like a Ph.D. physics textbook.

Consider yourself warned.

Knowledge is light. Ignorance is darkness.

thanks for the warning...
To be honest I don't really care if its correct or not. Its my ship :P
I didn't want to have a warp engine or other already existing shizzle propulsion like if comes from the same factory. Its an experimental propulsion system launched a very long time ago... and guess what... it failed somehow.
But since the urgency of the disease on the home world... there was no time to test it extendedly. they had to send it out and search contact with other hopefully further advanced civilisations. Unfortunately this was the only ship specially build to leave their star system since the Eyans are a young space faring civilization.

depending on the size of this ship, how about putting in a landing bay for shuttles?

Not a bad idea... But I dont think the ship will get that big.
I think if it becomes a landing bay that'll hold 2 shuttles at most.
Its an experimental ship for a new propulsion... so not really a need for a fully equiped vessel.

I have been eyeing your ship, you know that right?

Anyway, I was wondering if you found a way in Blender to Export it out to a compatible format for other 3D software to use? 3DS is very popular. I used to use Blender, but didn't like the interface. I use Max 9 and C4D now. C4D is my most used program on my computer.

Anyhow, your story I have been reading about the ship is cool. It almost fits my storyline. hehe
