Oh, now there's a great way to find the size. I'd do it now, if I had the time. Maybe tomorrow.

Okay, this is an extremely rough calculation, but it's the best I can do with the quality of the pictures. The Raptor is approximately 41 pixels in length, and the mouth of the landing bay is roughly 246 pixels in width. This works out to 51.24 meters in width for the forward opening of the flight pod. Since I'm a fan of even numbers, I'm going to round that down to just 51 meters. On one of the dorsal pictures of the Valk herself from "Hero", the flight pod is about 104 pixels in length and the mouth is around 16 pixels wide. This works out to 331 meters. The overall length, 286 pixels, comes out to 912 meters. I hope this helps.

quite frankly; at least in my opinion; ya'll are giving these ship's way more size credit than they deserve. Galactica, according to her "windows" on the nose rounded to average window size/height would make the ship far smaller than what alot of people perfer to admit. However, at the same time, the size of the landing bay opening compared to the width of a viper makes that number grow... ehhh...

Point is; tv show. doesn't need to match up.

I think some are looking for just a ballpark average so we can gauge other ship's sizes, I think.......

My money is on 1/3 the size of pegasus, going on what we see visually on Razor.

Well, actually, the CG new galactica's size scale is very well worked out. The windows look bigger than they are because they have a heavy wide frame around them, but anyway, who says they can't be big windows?

AFAIK, the original and new Galacticas are supposedly the exact same length - more or less 1265 metres long.

And I personally think its vitally important to have consistent scales for a fictional universe - it just makes it, on a subconscious level, feel more "right" for the viewer. And in the field of 3D graphics, there is no longer any excuse for things not matching scale like there used to be in the days of motion control when it was very difficult to integrate shots of differently scaled physical models.

consistent scale can go a long way to suspending disbelief, which after all is what they are trying to do....
