That would be an object error. I think here it's more that the render engine is triangulating the object before drawing it on the screen. Even if the object itself isn't triangulated.

I have a feeling it wouldn't look as it does if did the boolean with a primitive that had fewer polygons. Maybe an elongated octagon rather than a cube with rounded edges.

Either way I'm beyond that part now.

Finished blocking out the major parts of the ship. I have most of the simple line work shaped out with the curvy-ness-ish stuff modeled. I'm pretty happy with what I have so far.

Might rebuild the pylon engine housing thing though.

Now I have the approximate hight of the model, I can build a yardstick for proportions in the details. Hatches, panels, etc... Fun stuff all around!

Just trying out different panel styles. Not sure which I like better. Irregular or uniform looks well enough for me. I plan to have the smaller panels on both for that extra level of detail.

I prefere the left arrangement of the armor platting but I would make them more simple flat plates instead of giveing them this little extra details.

Came up with a panel design for the 'wing' part of the ship and added a few panels to the main hull. Also refined the shapes a bit and am playing around with some of the minor proportions.

Lastly I built the warp nacel. Trying for that hybrid style I mentioned earlier in the thread.

Ha! Maybe when I'm done, it'll look like a hodgepodge of all ST designs!

Then it'll be assimilated by the Borg and the look will be complete.
