what program's she being made with?

One tube on the pod makes sense since it won't be able to hold as much ammo as the rest of the ship. The phaser arrays on the pod make sense but shouldn't be inset because it will reduce their firing arcs slightly. There are pointy bits to the front that overhand the inner torp tubes, they should be retracted slightly. It might be good to raise the pod slightly so the torp tube in it has just a little more clearance. Oh yeah, longer cheek phasers and a few more of them.
Total ammo count for the torpedo launchers would be around 168. There are actually 3 launchers in the pod. One fore, two aft. I actually made a "brick" of torpedoes to set inside of the different parts of the ship. That way I could get a basic idea of this thing's guts and how stuff would fit together. The pointy bits weren't in the way for the launchers' original positions. I might move them back over where they were. Still has a clear line of sight from the innermost tubes and the forward hull. Just not as much.

Or something. I'll figure out the positioning as I go along.

Those cheek phasers were a pain to build. Literally! I got a headache trying to get them to curve just right. So I'll leave those alone. ::grins:: I also plan to put a few more weapons on here. There's still the planned point defense turrets from the line art, and probably some more of those ball phasers like on the Ent-A and Excelsior era ships on the wings.

Truly a hodgepodge design! I think I'm getting that technological blend built in nicely.

Updated checklist:
- Work on the pod's exterior details
- make the red/green lights smaller
- finish detailing the engines
- work on the rest of the ship...

wow, will you release this as a .obj?
would love to see what my friend borris can do with her.
heck, once the new hardware gets here in july, I may wanna tinker with her myself.

seriously good work.

one suggestion, far as texture maps are concerned, it might be best to keep the file names down to 8 characters and under, and have the mesh file reflect this, seen a few meshes that would just not load properly due to too many texture files with long file names(3d modeling programs can be quite literal when asking you to hunt for texture map "alpha gamma blend").

I've been working on the main body bit by bit here. Finished detailing the weapon pod (not shown) and made some more details for the ship itself.

Instead of showing the little advances, I'll just show the largest part I've done so far. One of the impulse drives.

Not as long as you might think. I open up the cylinder properties and set the sides to 6. Instant hexagon.

Next I array the objects on the shape I intend to cut out. Then subtract each hexagon with a boolean tool. The problem was that I originally had too many holes in the mesh and kept getting geometry errors. So I had to divide it into 4 parts and make larger/fewer holes.

Hey Jack! I forgot you were on here.

OK, made a defense turret as intended by the original line art. Also added a transporter array, detailed the warp core/engine room dome, added a row of crew windows, and some other details to the main hull of the ship.

I based the design of the turret itself off of the TNG Type 2/3 phaser.

-edit-
After a suggestion and some simple line art, I've completely rebuilt the point defense turret. Not wanting to waste the work I did on the original (actually, it was my 2nd attempt), I reused the old turret and incorporated it into the new design.
