Downloads: 0 Uploads: 0 | remotely operated bipedal assault robot I decided to model my own mecha, I haven't really got history for it but it's a near future design. The weapons details as far is I worked them out: - 1 150mm smoothbore gun firing Armour-Piercing Fin-Stabilised Discarding Sabot (APFSDS), High-Explosive Squash Head (HESH) rounds in 2 for 2 burst. - 6 40mm rapid fire cannons firing 3P ammunition. (2 will be added to the leg base) P.s. Has it been mentioned that the img tags don't work any more? I tried searching for any posts mentioning it but the advanced search give a white page as a result. |

If you give some doubt then your most likely going to not gain interest and people will just pass it over. Take a look at some modern tanks like the Abrams, Challenger and Leopard and watch the tank firing it's 120mm cannon and see how the vehicle moves when shooting. Remember that it's a tracked heavy vehicle with a series of shock absorbers throughout. Also watch some self propelled guns firing which approximate the size of your gun and see them move too. For a tank cannon, I would envision a very large building sized mechanized unit to be able to absorb that amount of energy and stand on two legs. |

Anyway I tried to find how much recoil a 120mm gun creates which lead to this article Rheinmetall 120 mm LLR / L47 Tank Gun for light Vehicles - Military Photos. So I resized my gun to a 120mm and made the gun's base bigger (for a longer recoil path). Other than that I modelled the muzzle brake which is, different from standard, attached at the end of the barrel. Next up is finding some good references of challenger tank's optical unit and modelling something close to it.

| SFM Oracle | You resized your 120mm gun to a 120mm gun? uhhhhh yes? What's the difference? ![]() Let's see the result so far. Maybe you gonna create some shock dampeners? |

The design of the chassis and suspension of the weapon platform will make or break the design overall. Perhaps if you take pen to paper and rough out the idea first. Remember this is a future design so 140mm is not out of the question. |

And the ones on the legs will be behind armour as it is rather annoying to have those things destroyed by a lucky piece of shrapnel. Quote:
Anyway I added extra holes as well as a range finder. I also added a gas sump in the barrel and the intake fort he gas-turbines that are used to generate the electricity for this machine. Oh yeah I'm using Max 9 to model this.

I also decided that the 40mm uses a revolver type action for easier collection of spent shells. And that the CIWS turrets will based on this gun:recoiless cannon RMK 30 ![]() ![]() ![]() |
