yeah my method is similar to nightshadows for the texture as far as using noise maps, but i start with a falloff map, set perpendicular/parallel to darken the edges of the object, then a turbulence noise map for the smoke, and inside that a fractal noise map to detail the smoke. works pretty nicely.

and it does have windows, you just cant see em yet. theyre all on the rim of the saucer. the smoothing error i know about though, i just forgot to turn the smooth modifier on the saucer back on.

decided to put together an actual image with the ship so far. thought it came out interesting enough to post, though not perfect so its not going in the finished area, but you all can check it out

Not the right angle between ship and planet. Looks as if it would hav started from the planets surface.

But an interesting image of the ship nonetheless.

I love the image. The ship reminds me a lot of the intrepid from the Enterprise and that's really good You did an awesome job dude. Keep at it !

Tidel forces will rotate any orbiting body such that its long axis is perpendicular to the ground.
