Kuralis Class Escort Carrier

Hey guys...

I decided to model the Kuralis class Escort Carrier from the Manga GalForce in order to learn Sketchup before I get into modeling my own designs.

I did a test render with the drive pods lit at low power. So far my first real complete 3D project is going well. I never knew how time consuming and addictive this was....YOU GUYS SHOULD HAVE WARNED ME!!!!

The design part of the build is easy..But one thing I see in the render that I don't understand is why are the cylindrical surfaces (i.e. engine pods) rendering geometrically instead of smoothed?

Questions about Sketchup, comments and suggestions all desired..

Here is what I have so far:

Didn't even know that Galforce had a manga!

Feedback on what? There's nothing to give feedback on BECAUSE THERES NO ****ING REFERENCE YOU DUMB****! Next time post an image so you can give your audience a ****ing clue as to what they are looking at! I mean if you're gonna be an attention whore you might as well do it right!

BTW; it's Gall Force and the anime dates back to the mid 80's.

Hmm, well unfortunately my knowledge of sketchup is very limited, but If I may be so bold, I would suggest getting Kerkythea, and the sketchup to Kerkythea plugin, it is a much better renderer and has near perfect integration, I think you will get much better results that way.

That is very nice, I especially like the engine fx.

Thanks...The lighting FX have been frustrating...I almost have the engine glow the way I want it....a little more tweeking at it should be a little better. I went from zero 3D skills to this in about two weeks of playing with Sketchup...The learning curve for the software is really short...but mastering the details...is an ongoing process.
