It had a light weight WIP here most of it is over at Eric's forum, and should still be there >_>

I think I spent only a few weeks on it. Needs some work though to be finished, as always with my wip
Still cannot reproduce your textures The copper nacel caps, is that a seprate off texture or is just the cap overlit to overcome the self ilum texture behind? Still fighting to get a nice copper in defauls scanline as well. >_<

I have a Mix material set up to transition from the solid copper appearance, which is how the engines look when they are off, to the glowy, spinny appearance for when they are powered up.

I'll give you a tip about the copper texture, one that applies equally well to any kind of bare metal: Don't make the highlights pure white. Metals are unique in that their highlights and reflections are tinted the same color as the metal. That's something I never understood until relatively recently and it makes a world of difference.

Oh, and if you're using Max 8 or later, I strongly recommend giving Mental Ray a try. It takes some getting used to, but it's a whole quantum level beyond the scanline renderer in terms of quality and speed.

speed? lol I saw a decline in that and to get it back I had to lose line fidelity, I'm prolly doing it wrong But so far Im sticking with scanline then I have no worries about future conflicts etc. Or when sharing files, though 8+ mental is in the app. I experimented with it on my Balmung and found to get sub 5min renders I was losing detail in hull plating and small mesh detail. Some day Ill go back and retry to get it to work. I become impatient with waiting and just give up too often to get back to modling.

Yeah my coppers are off yellowish white with a aniscopic or some such, been a while since I had that ship open. Rarely do I use white in a spec or gloss slot. Its the fal off from the highlights and deepining of the effect I cannot manage right. Dunno its something I cant put a finger on. It is most likley my base color choices I bet. Thread almost makes me want to put the Danmaku games away and get back to 3d

That is one beautiful ship Vektor! Probably best re-imagination of the old Connie that I've ever seen. Personally though, I would have preferred straight pylons, as those are one of the defining features that separate the original from the refit.

Still don't see wallpapers

Vektor, still an excellent ship, but ive heard maxwell is a much easier renderer to use than MR. Is there a point where it makes more sense to use one over the other?
