Oh you can still use it but you have to use it smartly. Try using a single plane behind the multiple light stripes instead of using the material on the light stripes. So instead of dozens of polygons your only using 2.

Try a simple sphere & plane test.

Four ships-shmips... I've rendered fleet flybys and the whole render took less than eleven hours.

And with my inefficient modelling, I find I have about 400,000 faces where a proper modeller would have about 6, heh heh... In any case, hope something makes those render times come down, or we'll never see more detail outta ye!

Well started to make a shuttle craft to get from place to place inside of a solar system. Ship to ship transfer etc. Not a small ship though. Got to come up with some smaller ones too.

I upgraded SketchUp to the newest free version and reinstalled all my plug ins and it works better now.

Decided to work on the MDS Compassion Hospital Ship again. Started with the to of the ship. The two reverse arches were easy. It was the connecting structure that was a nightmare. I had to do everything by hand as it was composed of concave structures.

Haven't posted in a while but I have been busy making greebles after getting some inspiration from Thor Danielson's nurnies packs. I can't use them in SketchUp but I could use the provided jpg's and try to make them for my self with lots of differences as SketchUp just can'd do what his program can.

But the only pic I am putting up tonight is a greatly enhanced antenna array that I am using on the Iron Sun. I finally figured out how to mirror an item too so I mad a left and a right one.

I plan on deleting the old ones (identical as I had yet to mirror them) on the Iron Sun and putting in the new ones.

Also did a lot more on the Hospital ship but have yet to render a pic of it. Been learning a ton of stuff that has made things go a lot smoother and easier. But still a lot more to learn.

Been a while but I have been very busy trying a lot of stuff out. Learning more and more. But I had an idea at work and so started to work an a module system.

So far I have an agri mod, cryo mod, non-cryo mod, plug mod and am working on a passenger mod. Still have to design a command (bridge) mod, engineering/drive mod. Other ideas are for small craft hangar mod, defensive platform mod, Q-ship mod and a station mod that if I do it right will plug in 8 mods around it which then can be extended. Built fast and at a low cost and even YOUR system can afford to have its own modular space station. Great for inner system travel or long distance hyper travel.
