SAR Ship New day, new ship. ![]() Nightingale class SAR Ship The Nightingale class SAR ship is made by Questhouse Fabrication Industries for the MDS SAR Service. Stats: 300 metres long; Crew of 40; Emergency low births 100 Planned operational use is to locate a squadron of Nightingale class SAR ships in each sub-sector. I wanted to do something without any soft surfaces. C&C most welcome and invited

@Aresius SAR = Search and Rescue, today used for SAR Helicopter civil and military (see here: Search and Rescue @ Wikipedia) @author I like the idea of a hospital ship, although the first design was better to my mind. Well, lets see what this will look like at the end. Keep on, nice idea. Will you build some small "Space-Abulance"-Shuttles, which can transport injured people from other ships e.g. by docking at them? Is the crew (40) just ship personal or including medical stuff?

![]() psycoman, the hospital ship and the SAR ship are two very different craft. I based the hospital ship and its roll on the very real hospital ships that are in the USN. The SAR ship is a high speed first responder. The crew is only 40 personnel. This is not a hospital ship but more like a modern paramedic. These guys come in to a bad situation and have the ability to extract the injured, perform limited medical treatment and put the worst off in to Cold Sleep (aka Traveller RPG, Alien movie, etc...) then transport to medical facilities. They might even drop off victims at one of the hospital ships if there is one in the sub-sector. They are fast with over-sized engines, equipped to cut through hulls of badly damaged ships it comes complete with grapple equipment to wrangle the damaged ship if required. They can operate in hazardous situations, even in a combat zone but do have limited defensive weaponry. (something I will have to make for the model) My Sqn here at home is not a SAR Sqn but when ever the Cormorants are down we become the primary SAR. So a lot of my thinking comes from that point of view. Again, thanks for the C&C, keep it coming | |

I need to add stuff. Way to plain right now but inspiration is hard to get for spaces that big. Don't have any paint programs so making good textures will have to wait. I have been working on greebls that I can add to the models and in fact have done so with the SAR. Just haven't posted any renders of it yet.

More on the SAR ship. Added a level of observation windows below each landing bay door plus I am trying out some greebles. All four landing bay doors have been built but are in the open position. I just got a little plug-in for positioning things so I hope to figure it out and be able to shoe the doors in the closed or partially open positions. On top of that I have also created a storage/maintenance hangar below the landing bay. Inside of the landing bay is a large elevator similar to one on an aircraft carrier. Hope to be able to so the same to it as I want to do to the doors.
