Haven't been here recently. Sry.

Sweet work here. The details prove that this beasty will be a sweet ship.

Yeah, the details are making a great difference from your first pics!

I personally (and I stress this is entirely personal opinion) don't go for the cones on the underside. Not that I would put stuff there, they just seem smooth and pointy and I'm not sure why, they just don't follow the overall lines in my 'sight' but hey she is your design, how do -you- feel she is shaping up? Pretty cool eh? (I can remember when I started, I was satisfied when I managed to get a box on screen!!)

But seriously, she's looking better and better. I can't wait to see her textured and in space. She'd certainly give the renegade a run for her money!

I'll have to do some thinking about that Dannage. I was, for the most part, just playing around with a new plug-in for SketchUp which can make the cone shapes. I do like the length difference but the cones are kind of plain.

Also for your amusement, one of the first things I ever did in SketchUp was to make a giant rectangle... Just to play with scale, but still, just a big box.

Now one of the things I want to figure out is how to make an object (say a window) and have it duplicated around the body of a ship at equal distance around a center point. I know it can be done but I will have to spend some of my very limited time to read up on it

Yeah the fact that they are there and are round and are different lengths all works for me, it's only the conical bit, but again it's just personal preference, probably because I'm not used to seeing cones on ships!!

In any case, if you like it, you should keep it. Weren't these sourced from original drawings? Are you already at the stage where you're putting more detail on these than there are on the sketches? (I hardly put any detail on sketches these days!)

I had a thought just now about what I might be able to do to the 'cones' while I was rereading your posting. If I have time tonight I might try it. Late last night I finished off my Flyco component (as far as I am going to go with it for this project) and integrated it into the MDS Iron Sun model. Did some remders and will try to get time to post them tonight.

I am all ready doing more than the original sketches. The whole antenna farm/cooling vents is new. I did up a better engine section than I had drawn too. Thought out the landing/take off/hangar area much better too.

It is pretty fun and the time goes by so fast! Wish I had more of it.

Here are some pics of the "Flyco" stations installed over the landing bays. Flyco is the place where landings are controlled and information between the small craft and the ship while on approach are controlled/mediated (especially with foreign craft). These are usually qualified pilots current on whatever type of craft will be on the carrier but are also the controlling officers for foreign craft when they arrive.

Good. Very sweet.

It may take some time until I can model something in SketchUp (I've just purchased it and now I'm toying around with the different options.), but I'll hope to be able to craft something valuable once.

See, now people can dock with your ship. That's useful.

Good job laddie.

Aresius, you're not threatening to actually start a WIP are you?! About time!!
