It's about time i posted a thread.
This is another guy who wants to reinvent the wheel....I mean the star trek space ship. It's just in the early stages.
I know it resembles a weird fryingpan right now and also looks a bit NX-ish...hope i get some cool ideas

I wouldn't turn the saucer at all. I've got a post Nemesis design that uses the Galaxy class saucer as design cue for a slipstream capable cruiser, so there's no reason you couldn't do the same.

Out of curiosity, what era do you intend the ship to exist in?

p.s. being a major Starbuck fan, I love the name.

@ Hellsgate I don't think it would look that well...the saucer is not identical on both sides...but an interesting idea

I also like BSG...but i chose the name after an acient territory, maybe i'll also make her sister ship The USS Dacia...:P
I think this from TNG era. I made the saucer inspired by the nebula class.
I'll have to think about her function before thinking of a class.

I'm liking this ship. I think it looks pretty interesting, but is the guy to scale so it's a small ship or is this going to be a medium size starship.

With all of these models poping up that is made from google sketch-up, I would really like to see what an accomplished modeler could do with that program.

As far as your model is concerned, that is an interesting place for the nacelles. It is the way that the "modern day" starships are heading, pylonless. Here is an idea, take what I guess is the equivilant of the secondary hull, and extend it towards the center of the saucer. Place the bridge eithere on top of it, or recess it in like the nova class.

I like the shape overall too and agree with bbelt about extending the "secondary hull" towards the center of the saucer. The nacelles look cool.

bbelt, there are some incredible works out there for sketchup. You can go to the main web site and download a vast array of models. Some of the scifi stuff really is top notch.
