Oh I realize there's precedent. I just don't think it's a good design idea. You can't shoot "down" - you'll hit the hull. You want the forward-facing launchers as far forward as you can put them, rear-facing launchers as far aft as you put them. It widely opens up your field of firing.

Yeah, I know the torps can self-steer. That only showed up in ST6. Prior to that, they went straight.

As for the revisions... I LOVE the new nacelles. Looks meaner.

[EDIT]Now, upon further inspection, I see there are more launchers underneath, so that pretty well settles that.[/EDIT]

Thanks guys,
@Aresius:Ill see if i can make a meaner rollbar, probably i'll have to redoit all over again.
@Dave:That should have been settled as this is supposed to be a powerful military ship, but prior to your comment it didn't have the bottom rollbar, moving it forward inspired me to put one at the buttom, anyway now it looks mean and has the proof to show it.

Some small update...new deflector wip...somehow it seemed wrong that a deflector should point downward.

Well, that one torp in ST6 could only steer because of the gas-anomaly seeking device McCoy and Spock installed.
Even in TNG they were still not steerable. I guess this has been redone prior or during the Dominion war or something like that.

Holy crap, this is a promising design! It almost makes me want to take a crack at it in MAX to provide more details and cleaner lines to reduce the segmentation issues. I dearly wish that I'd come up with this one. Fantastic concept!

Thanks, and if you feel inspired go right a head at making your own version.

they were steerable/ self-guided in TNG. the tech manual points that out, though we didn't see an example of it until "Genesis."

one recalls EMH-2 hitting a defiant class ship with a torp that was seen avoiding the bad guys. one further recalls he blamed the torp...
very interesting ship heck of a lot more then i've been able to coax out of sketchup!

Right on. If/when I find the time to do it I'll take a crack at it. It probably won't be 100% faithfull as I tend to throw in my own little tidbits, but what I eventually concoct should be a VERY strong resemblence. Again, great concept!
