Enterprise TMP-era cargo bay

Odin's recent work on the TOS-era shuttlebay got me motivated to stretch my skills, such as they are. My goal: to model the entire interior of the cargo bay briefly shown in the beginning of The Motion Picture. Here are a couple frame grabs from the DVD:

I'm using Al3d's terrific model of the Enterprise as the basis of my work. Using that model, I've blocked out a basic shape, so I know it'll fit correctly. The first thing I noticed is the bay as pictured is too big! It can't fit inside the ship!

The basic shape (I've got Al's workbees and a reference human in there for demonstrations of scale):

Here's a bunch of refs I have from Andrew Proberts website (I think, I can't find them now?!) http://comby.star-fleet.org/refs.zip hopefully might help with your scaling issues?

Anyway good luck, and this is a cool project so far!

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

Heh. Two kids and a real job mean I don't get to dump a whole lot of time into this . Take into account that I'm a real newbie to modelling. So, it's going to go slow.

I've just been looking at your website and I'm sure I've seen a couple or your renders around before, were you a member of LWG?

I pity the fool!

Just a lurker, I'm afraid. My renders are on my website: Dave's Renders. Be sure to check out the really short movies too.
