Not much of an update.

Tobin asked for me to try placing the engines under the wing. So here it what it looks likes. I not to sure about it, what do you guys think?

@ Scifieric, I played around with smoothing out the point on the engine, but it did not look as good. so I will be leaving as it is.

Also in the picture is how the engines currently look on the ship, in their current position.

Next I will be looking, how to add a door to the hatches on the side of the ship. they need to be able to open with in an airlock as well as be able to let the passenger get out when there in no airlock. (This will be mainly for the dropship. As a ladder or stair well will no be placed there in a drop zone.)

Anyway as always please leave C&C thanks

A Few suggestion where made at 3dscifi, SFA and SFM, for the engines to be moved form the tips of the wings to being on top.

So here is a picture with the two different versions of the engine placements and different angles.

Which one do you think looks better?

As always please leave C&C Thanks

Definitely the engines on the tips of the wings - gives it a flavour cross between the hunter-killers from terminator, a firefly-class transport (serenity), the ivss from space above & beyond, and the current US military osprey transport (tilt-rotor)

A google search on the ivss, and the engine pods on the IVSS are not as impressive as they were in my memory - so maybe the IVSS is a bad example!
But still think they would look great if they could rotate like they do on all of the above.

Thanks guys.

I'll have to make the engines on wing tips smaller, at their current size the ship would not be able to land with them in a vertical postion.

@ Monkey Boy, I did not know the was a Newcastle in Oz. which part is it?

Both designs have their merits I think. True, the wingtipped engine is more recognisable and if those main engines are meant to also take care of the VTOL capabilty they're the logical choice.

I still love this ship. I originally thought that maybe the engines would be better suited under the wing, tucked up against the body, but the more I see it, the better I like the engines on the wing tips.

You were talking at one point about changing the rear wing design? Well don't. It adds character the way it is now. Sets it apart from some of the other classical dropship designs like the ISSCV and such.

Safe@2nd: Oh, I've been calling it an IVSS - wonder where I got that from? You're right, it's an ISSCV; an Endo-Exo Transatmospheric InterStellar Space Cargo Vehicle - although I'm not sure why the need to say 'InterStellar' and 'Space', aren't they the same thing?

Freak: Yeah, Austalians are generally a pretty unimaginative bunch, there is a Newcastle, there are also suburbs called Cardiff, Swansea, Wallsend - you can definitely see our colonial origins!!!!
Newy is about 150km north up the east coast from Sydney, probably best known internationally as the home town of former Miss World Jennifer Hawkins.

As to the engines, yeah, I see what you mean. You could decrease the droop in the wings but to be honest I like the wing angle as it is....tricky, I like the bend in the wings and I like the engines being large - where to compromise?

What if the point of rotation was set back to the rear of the engine? So that less of it hung down, and more projected above the wing when in the vertical orientation?

I knew Oz, US, Canada and few other places around the world get there name form this fair small island, just never heard of a Newcastle outside of the UK. Learn something new every day.

Yeah I like the wings as they and the engine, but you have presented a intresting idea.
The exurst port at the rear are a seperate object, so that could be the bit that can turn. Somthing I need top play around with first.
