Thanks I-D

Small update, added a little more detail to the back of the engine.

I have also started to build the hatch that will cover the two side doors. At this moment I am not sure how it will open. As the will be a need for stair or ladder to get down when not using an airlock or “Airport Stairs” are not available.

As always please leave C&C thanks

Well the obvious answer is to have it hinge downwards, with steps fitted to the inside suface of the door - too easy, do something more than that!

How about hinging it at the top, and having it open up to about 30 degrees from the horizontal, to find the door itself is the roof of a telescoping tube to ground level?

Love the idea of switching the thrust to the port in the base of the engine, gives it something of a starfury feel.

cheers.

Thanks Monkey Boy.
I got an idea I have been working on, but I had to rebuild it three times.

I am hoping to have an update at some point this week.

Once again another small update.

I have finished the door for the Executive Shuttle and the Bomber, this was the 4 attempt at it and I think it works.
These ones left up to give room for an airlock to fit into place or some sort of Ladder.
The Bomber and the Executive Shuttle does not carry one because it would not Land where there are no Landing crew.

I have added a close up and one of the full ship.

I am now working on the Panels for the Executive shuttle this is taking longer than expected.
As always please leave C&C Thanks

Oh yeah, I see, but IMHO the twin jacks look a little flimsy at present - how aout making each one a double-jack?

Personally, I think you should have the door pop out about 2 inches to unlock, then slide up on runners, would keep it flusher with the body and cleaner.

I take it that poor green fellow was standing outside the hatch during re-entry, he looks a little wasted!

cheers.

Actually, no, forget my last.
I now think the door jacks should open forwards, but a more complex arangement, so that the opened door lies flat parallel to the angled section forward of the hatch.
This would give a cool looking hatch opening mechanism, but not do anything to destroy the fine lines of the ship, whether opened or closed.

To do this you would just have to rotate the current jack arrangment so that the current lower pair are now the aft pair, and the upper ones are the forward ones - and if you make the aft jacks have a greater length of extension, that would take care of angling the door back inwards.

looks pretty good so far,

I would have to agree with Monkey Boy though, atm the hydraulics looks a little too weak to support the weight of the door, and I dunno, it just looks really weird when opened, although its quite original. I also think it would look good to make it somehow stand parallel to the wall in front of the door as MB said, but I don't know how you would go about doing that

Another idea I think would look great is splitting the door into 3 halfs, and having left and right half go up, like doors on a mercedes 300sl and the middle part having stairs on the inside go down, but that would require a major redoing of the door, which you've obviously put quite a bit of effort into already, so I dunno, just putting the idea out there

interesting idea, but wouldn't that create a problem for any kind of stair mechanism as the aft jacks would get in the way?

@ Berkut: Would make it complicated for staying pressurised, but hey! That sounds very interesting, nice lateral thought there.
