are you running any other programs while you render? Because my pc is so slow (I can't even start Max anymore) I have to close everything when I am rendering in Lightwave. Looks good though. Maybe making the yellow darker will help.

Lonewriter.
Not really. I'll have Mozilla Firefox sitting in the background and maybe Photoshop, but that isn't what caused it. They don't use that much power when sitting idle.

My guess is that it is because of my light setup. If I counted correctly, I have close to 100 area, 6 Directional plate lights, and that is combined with refraction, caustics, and indirect lighting. Not to mention the ceiling patterns which are actually displacement maps.

Considering though, the time is not that bad. On my "old" computer that would have taken close to 3 hours.

Its specs:
Pentium 4 3.2 HyperThreading
2 GIG RAM
PCI-E 256mb Video
320 Gig Hard drive.

My new specs:
Pentium-D 3.0 Dual Core
2 GIG RAM
512 MB Nvidia 8500 GT
500+ Gig Hard drive
-----and----
a 20" Widescreen LCD

So I'll just have to try to optimize the lighting.

Here is an example of what the old machine could do. Its Sarod's Voyager.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates, but your gonna have to bear with me another week. My family is taking a vacation, and I will not have access to my 3D stuff.

On another note. I have begun work on the phaser strips and other surface greebles for the ship. Haven't made any real progress. I'm thinking of using multiple phaser emmitters instead of the Standard "long-lines", which will allow the ship to standoff more ships at the same time.

Hey guys, I'll be leaving shortly. Here is a pic with the placement of the Phasers and Escapepods. I still need to texture the underside of the saucer.

All the blue are phaser strips?
Wow, that one can deal out a blow...
Interesting.

So, have fun at the holidays.

I'm back. Well vacation was fun, sat around watched Voyager and ate ice cream, went swimming, raced gocarts, and scored 42 on an eighteen hole minigolf course.

BTW, I'm gonna start texturing the underside of the saucer tonight, and should get it most of the way done.

About the number of phaser emitters. The large emitter,Class 10's, are meant to engage the larger ships. The smaller ones are Class 9's, which work in sets. each small one will run a different random frequency routine, increasing the rate of damage to a target, without actually using higher-powered phasers.
