Exclamation A Fleet Flagship Command Bridge - Post TNG

This the Command Bridge for a Post TNG refit of the Galaxy or Soveiegn Class. It includes a breifing/conference room directly behind the bridge and a separate readyroom for the captain and admiral.

The layout is a variant of a sketch that I found about a year ago, while searching for Star Trek meshes and images. The main difference is that the two foward center consoles are where a three seat triangle plotting table was. Other than that and some slight styling differences it is identical to the drawing.

I have to light the Conference room and Ready Rooms, but then I should be done. At which point I plan to release it for download, as well as a variant of the Voyager's Bridge that I made a year ago. Along with a NONE-POSER male in a TNG era uniform, unfortuantely the uniform is a modified wetsuit, instead of the actual coveralls/jumpsuit.

The meshes will be exported to 3DS, OBJ, and possibly LWO from Eovia's Carrara 5 Pro. Which has some problems importing 3DS at times, but not the other two.

The floor consoles and chairs are from an Olympus Class Bridge mesh that I downloaded a long time ago, and the credits for it were lost in a PC crash, when my computer's motherboard and harddrive were fried during a thunderstorm. If anyone knows who the author is, please contact him and let him now, Thanx.

If you have suggestions, please post them here, and email me as well at: kickajet@gmail.com, and please title it, so that I know that it is about this scene.

Looks interesting. Do you have a deck plan (top-down image)?

I like it and I would love to see a deck plan and other views. The one suggestion I would have is to remove the railing in from of the command center.

Yes, I have considered removing the railings, but for now they will stay for scaling reasons(i.e. waist hieght). These are a few fast renders without the high-end lights, because it takes close to 2 1/2 hours to do a 640x480 (got to work on the lighting), anyway, here they are. the man in the chair is an attempt from a year ago to make TNG/Voyager officer, not to good, not to bad, but he could use a ton of work on the uniform mesh.

It's hard to see clearly in the shots you provided. I would suggest tho, that a bridge, even a flagship bridge, should be only slightly larger than the original. So, take a sovy, extend the side console to be 2 seaters each, so you have a fleet tactician and a local tactical/security officer, add two "flexible" auxillary consoles in the back with emergency relief officers, and a medic, with an auxiliary medbay and emergency transporter next to the conference room. (if it is a flagship, then it is critical to the fleet to get injured bridge officers stabilized in those crucial moments, instead of waiting for the stretcher from sickbay). I think it is always a good idea to have an emergency medbay next to the bridge and engineering, and it is a poor plot device for some poor soul to die on the way to sickbay.

You can't have a bridge too crowded, and it is a good idea to have relief officers standing by during battle.

Why mix the flag bridge and the ship's bridge?

The ship's captain and his bridge officers are concerned with fighting the ship. The admiral and his flag staff/battlewatch are concerned with fighting the battlegroup/fleet. Those are two VERY different jobs, and there is nothing to be gained by putting them both in the same room.

chrisweuve is quite right. There should definately be two different command centers for the ship's senior officers. I think part of the problem is that Trek has always sent it's flag officers off as individuals. Only in DS9 were there ever even chief of staffs. But flag officers do have seperate staffs that would not just be incorporated onto someone else's bridge. I'd suggest just making a new flag bridge that looks less like a standard bridge, and more like an observation room. The admiral's staff isn't actually firing the weapons or flying the ship, they're analyzing, plotting, and giving fleet orders.

I actually have to agree with that. So yeah, go back to a slightly enhanced bridge, with a Tactical and Stragic (Fleet) Center adjacent, and keep the emergency facilities

I've meant a top-down from the mesh, not the sketch.

Nice images so far, I like the big conference table.

Nice work. The unknown author is Sean Robertson, a core member of this place, although he doesn't post as often anymore as he did in the past.
