This is some post work on 3D render
http://www.silverblades-suitcase.com...ge_fantasy.jpg
and all of them
SPELLJAMMER Various

The scene tells a story....

Mind flayers are one of the nastiest bunch of bast*rds in Dungeons and Dragons, psionic master minds, enslavers of worlds, and brain eaters...
This is on the helm deck of one of their Nautiloid battleships. Note it's *fantasy* space, not sci-fi

Preparing for a long trip, they set about lunch...one of their victims is in hysterics, knowing she's probably next to get brain sucked...slaves are kept hairless so won't get in the way of brain munching and to keep down parasites (as they use orcs etc as slaves too)

The ships is powered by "series helms", the organic looking thrones they are seated in, these convert psionic energy to power. The one above them is the captain in a spare helm, he's enjoying the psychic vibrations of the woman's death (mind flayers are sadistic SOBs).
Helms are at rear of the deck, to forward is window to space.

However...for once, salvation maybe at hand for the poor slaves! An adventurer has sneaked aboard (which is not at all easy to do on a nautiloid), he's busily trying to calm the hysterical lass with, keeping an eye on what's about, and using his own mind powers to tap in, as the mind flayers are about to enjoy the culmination of their victim's death, and thus be easier to take by surprise.

He's armed with a vial of alchemical liquid, that acts like a nasty CS-type gas on the mind flayers, but won't hurt other folk...plus he's got some other tricks up his sleeve and his own warship nearby! But...mind flayers are no pushovers....not a bit of it...

I added the hero in, while I think it was better art without him, I really didn't like how horrible it was, ok so, I'm an old softy

Ship, helms, some minor props made by me in Rhino, illithid heads by me in Zbrush. Rest is huge variety of poser items from DAZ3D.com

Good stuff! Illithids and Dragons are some of my favorite fantasy creatures. What about a Nautiloid facing off against a dragon in high atmosphere?

It's much better without that wood grain looking texture to make it look like it's a wood print.

My slightly improved and famous Enterprise Reference Pack. - 2/6/08

Yeah, he's probably speaking about those images which have gone through the filters I actually like those renderings better. They are really awesome Steve The cartoon render of the crew looking at the nebula is my favourite so far. What program are you using to achieve the effect ?
