Of course, I'm going to cover a shell surface with armer panels and block large gaps between her hull and the shell with armer panels, but their dimensions and patterns are not decided yet. As you know, panel modeling is boring but very important to define vessel's character. I hope that modeling would be finished by the end of March. ![]() Firstly, I planned to name her and her sisters after giants and giantesses in Norse myth, so one of them may have been named "Skadi". Currently I assigned "Arvak" and "Alsvid" to gunstar, "Sleipnir" to a special type battlestar, "Skinfaxi" and "Gullfaxi" to standard battlestar and "Grani" to strikestar(battlestar variant covered with two shells). All names are those of horses in Norse myth. Dimensions of Skinfaxi were defined based on Valkyrie, whose length was assumed about 1200m. As shown in the attached image, dimensions of front part are quite similar to Valk. Cannons were copied from my GALACTICA's mesh. Their sizes were estimated from GALACTICA's image by ZOIC, but it may be somewhat small...? ![]() |

| SFM Nugget | I'm kind of a n00b at making good, detailed, crazy-awesome 3D ships... so I've got some questions that pop into my head from time to time. As of now, I'm wondering... how long did those images take to render, and on what hardware/software? EDIT: Oh, and before I make a total ass of myself for requesting information from a talented modeler without complimenting a deserving piece, that's a fantastic looking work there. ![]() |

Check out his new mesh here on sfm, and pay attention to the launch tubes - you'll reach the same conclusion. 1200m is more then double it's actual size. |

| SFM Obsessed | you know how much I like it. The only thing I'm not fond of is the name. Otherwise, it's great. BTW, A. Pickle, welcome to SFM, tan.j uses Lightwave. |

Many times I might think that that particular model is not my style, or I just plain don't like the concept of the design. But what ALWAYS impresses me is these pictures...it ALWAYS looks like you can just grap the model off the screen!! Particularly this one. It looks like a little plastic model you can just grab and start painting!! Its SO awesome!! And I like the model too in this case! ![]() Jacob |
