Wow, those ribs are well done (sound like food now, forgive me). I do suggest you break to ribs down at some point as they near the centre, or make something big and blocky to break up the ribs, specially at her fore and aft, where there are mostly ribs and little else.. Im not graphics expert, though, so it's all up to you.

Yeah, I agree with you, I also guess it should be so.
I have not thought about an option that she was not covered with the shell, because hull design without the shell is not cool even for me. But what you wrote looks an interesting idea to protect sensors from unexpected troubles that might occur at the time of FTL jump, even if she has the shell.
