Thanks guys!

A sea turtle and an armadillo...Yes, I agree with both of you.
When I finished basic modeling of the shell structure, I guessed it gave turtle-like looks to her. So, to tell the truth, I considered to give hexagonal panels once. But now, by adding textures that emphasize panel edges, it looks like an armadillo for me too...

It took about 6 hrs total, 1-1.5 hrs/day, to add all panels on the shell surface. But around 2/3 of it was spent for editing misplaced points by applying rounder tool to get panels with round corners.

Hey Tanj, is there a shell on the underside as well? I don't remember an underside shot being posted in this thread.

Speaking of the paneling on the shell - personally I think it is a bit too much. I rather liked the flatter looking armor contrasting with what it covers.

Yep, what you wrote are very important for me.

I personally like smooth shell structure that has no panels and joints.
Current panel design was selected because I guessed it matches the BSG universe. And I was afraid that smooth shell structure was rather one of the key design features of Cylon's vessels.

"Clam" was the first concept for her class ships, namely she was covered with two shell structures at first. But I decided that this "clam concept" was applied to only special battlestars(like strikestar) and gunstars.
If I would have enough time, I'm going to make these variants.

nice.

Thanks Darkone and XRaiderV1.7.

The progress is very slow now...
Added some small structures on engine pod surfaces and fixed shell shape of SLEIPNIR. She is a SKINFAXI's sister ship who has long-range sensor heads instead of dual cannons on her back.

Nice work.

I like the Skinfaxi a lot. The Sleipnir is taking good process as well.

It's not the same class, aye? At least not the same type of armour.
