I'm not sure what you mean, I thought the superstructure looked about the same height as the original, and 'over-weaponed'? I think the original only had 1 turret on the top of the fin, together with a 'disk' sensor thing, I don't think replacing this with a second turret is particularly overdoing the gun emplacements. It's not like it's been festooned with additional cannons.... ...thoughts? | |

Apparently it was originally intended to by the command bridge (for similarity with EA freighters). But that will certainly not be the case for me. No 90% of the crew areas are in the "tower", concentrated mostly in the absolute center. With the bridge at the deep middle for safety. ![]() |

Those 'Omega" things on the lower front, well I'm pretty sure we never saw any weapons fire from them, but also neve had any confirmation of another purpose - I just assumed they were sensors, perhaps large apperture radio telescopes or something |

If so, then the ones on th Omega are considerably larger than the station was fitted with. The one on the station is also articulated (turreted), and given the way all other weapons on the Oma can be aimed, why not these mortars as well? - But having two side-by-side that close together, I would think they are likely to be fixed in place. IMO the designer put them there as detail, with no originally intended purpose other than to look good and busy, and later some-one else decided they looked like mortar barrels If they are in fact weapons, yeah they were never used as weapons in the series, even theough there were many occasions when they could have been - in fact should have been. |
