Do the words "variable geometry" mean anything?

You can have the canards up for atmospheric flight, and down out of the way of the thrusters for space flight.

Just a thought....

cheers,
I do believe that is a quite excellent idea.

I've been watching this along with the other fighter threads so as not to copy your ideas and I must say I like this design quite a bit. Keep it up.

interesting idea, the only problem I see with that is during atmospheric entry/exit since variable geometry also means less structurally strong.....err which also makes me ask, will this thing even do entry/exit? Or will it be transferred inside a carrier?

I have been seeing and reading allot of postings about the Canards, and I must say that your suggestions and ideas are great and very helpful...despite my lack of postings which I am very sorry, my updates will now increase.

I have also come up with a final solution with them...actually it is Monkey Boy's idea, which I should have come up long time ago...but to changed them into Retractable Canards.

They will Retract underneath the main body beneath the cockpit area for space flight, and then extend for Atmospheric / Air Flight. This change will come soon.

Before I do that, I thought I would play around with the Thruster Affect...this is only a rough draft and first attempt...I will be modifying it soon.

PS: Thank again Monkey Boy

That fighter has indeed an awesome design. Does the shiny materials stay that way? If it does, maybe you could make it a bit more reflective and add some subtile specular bloom, this will make it look even better.

I can't wait to see this fighter in action: Does anyone remember the scene from "The Rock", where those fighters approach alcatraz. This fighter will look just sweet in dusk-light.

hahaha, what I just did reminds me of that old joke:
"how do you tell if the stage the rock band is on is level or not?
It's level if the drummer has drool comming out of *both* sides of his mouth!"

cheers,
