It doesn't look even remotely like the F-22 or any sort of modified modern fighter.

@ Major good considering that the story hes making it for is 150 years from now. It should only barely resemble something from today, but when I look at it I can see what his inspiration was,(although he told me soo.....) take the f-22 and then do you remember FireFly, those police ships that resemble fighters, I think he has a great melding of the two personally. Just my two cents.

My appologies, I completely forget to ask what the tech level was and didn't consider it might be taking place other than the near future. I had assumed the idea was the F-22 getting adapted for space combat through the infusion of alien tech, which might have resulted in an F-22 with gimbaled aerospike engines and maneuvering thruster ports. I didn't consider it might be a space fighter with design cues taken from the F-22.

10 points to the person who can work out what it was I thought you said when i mis-read *this* post!

I posted a reply to that texture a while back, but it does not seem to be here, oh well, I'll try to remember what I said.....

I felt the texture looked a little too like the plane is covered with fabric - I once owned a pair of trousers with a similar texture.
I feel the plane would either have smooth panels with panel joins if it was made of titanium (for heat resistance) or have ablaitive armour - in which case it would have a somewhat ceramic texture.

The engine section, and around the engine section, I feel should be affected by heat, perhaps blued or purpled metal.

and the lines in the current texture should not criss-cross, but rather all be in the one alignment, like they were scarring from micro-meteoroids.

Don't worry about the ship's colour too much, as generally to a fighter, colour is less important than luminescience and reflectivity - particularly in space, where the mercury and gemini capsules were both black, but when seen from orbit were first spotted by other astonaughts from a distance as star-like points of light.

It is important to remember the future setting of the story - To be honest, if you look at how much fighters have changed in the last 50 years, there is every possibility that this design is actually *not modern enough*, who can tell what the next 150 years will bring?

When you are up to your hips in Alligators, you will forget that the original project was to 'drain the swamp'
