made the miniusb port and tried out a display on the screen - that part didn't work too well. I don't know what's up with the grey crap all over the picture; I thought the glass material was interfering with the image so I pulled it up above the screen (so there's nothing between the image and the camera), but it kept doing it. maybe that'll just end up post-processing.

I thought of another feature today while taking pictures with my iPhone. I could have really used a viewfinder because it was so bright out I could barely see the screen. If this is going to be a fully featured camera too, then something to put your eye right up against would be great.

thats strange, how are you moving the model from wings to KT? Are you using OBJ or the plugin?

And a thought... What kind of geometry is it? is it just an image plane? If so try setting the backface material to hole (in wings) and then try rendering again in KT. I think it may be that two faces of geometry are occupying the same space. Just a theory though.

That mini-USB looks near perfect. But perhaps it could use a few more polys or smoothing.

Major- that's a great idea (I have the same problem with my cameraphone and I hate it), but I'm not sure how I'd integrate it. the design is pretty full...

Ozy- actually I'm exporting it to .3DS to move it to Kerky. I looked the other day, but I only saw plugins for 3DSMax, Blender, and Sketchup. Does one of those works for Wings?

Yes, it's a simple image plane. but I've done it the same way before and everything was fine. I'll try making the back a hole, we'll see how it works.

I'm going to re-model the mini-USB bay on the phone (it's not deep enough, either). do you think the plug itself needs any more work?

I think you are right that the mini-usb could be deeper. Also I think that the corners of the plug may be too round, looking at one I have on my mp3 player it seems the corners are pretty sharp although being made with a bent piece of metal.

about the corners of the USB plug, they match my reference photo exactly. but, I think you're right anyway. I'm gonna change it.

HEY, anyone ever wonder what a glass cellphone would look like? apparently, when you export from wings as .obj, all the models with the same material assigned are grouped together. whatever. (this is not using the wings/kerky plugin; I haven't installed that yet.)

exporting as .obj and/or putting a hole material on the back of the image plane seemed to work, however.
