Are you modeling in Lightwave? If I attempt to have vertices alone like that, not connected to an edge, it introduces horrible errors. I'm using 3ds max. Maybe it is my smoothing settings. I'll take a look at it.

Thanks for the help and advice.

No prob, happy to help if I can.

I use modo. And that is just a section of geo with the rest of the nacelle geo hidden.

PixelMagic you can do that in max to a extent. In oly mode just use retringulate or manualy turn the hidden edges by being in edge mode or poly mode (prefer edge since poly well if you have polies selected makes it a PITA) and click turn this will show dashed lines, you click on them to change the connection points, this affects the flow of the surface.

Here marks a point of me really going off the TOS reservation. I could never stand those "slapped on" globes. The globes themselves I liked, I just couldn't stand the way they just intersect mounted them into the ends. My rule is: I don't want to change any major profile lines to E, so this is my take while keeping her profile intact, aside from my bottom globe mounts peeking out of the alcove a touch (but I kinda like that too).

Well aren't you just too cool? I like the original, but I have to admit this is cool. I think Franz Joseph drew his plans the same way, without the nifty detailing. Awesome job.

Nice work deg. I always thought the globes were rushed -so to speak. The darn endcap was only suposed to be a shroud anyways right.

Thanks guys.

First pass at the bussards, nothing cut in stone yet, still have some other ideas to try after looking at this hour-long! render (gotta adjust settings for that too), and gotta work on a better frosted glass look...
