well, it currently has 2 forward torps besides those in the yacht. One in the neck and one in the upper decks (somewhere around D or E deck if I remember) The 2 rear facing units on the back of the neck was well. The yacht isnt for little "jaunts" It could be used for seintific research requiring a larger crawf but more often than not it would be as other little craft are on Fed ships. . . permantly docked.

Anyhoo any suggestions for the upper section on it? Or should I leave it as is. Dun really wannr remodel the windows but heh from a top doen 3/4 front view its a bit ugly.

Sorry to make you repeat yourself, but I've been following this thread pretty consistantly and didn't remember the topic coming up. Thanks for clearing it up, the space makes a lot more sense seeing the ship from the top. I actually like the design for the top of the craft.

Seems the images going back that far are part of the recent purge. So Ill prolly have to readress things as I roll forward on this.
Sample here shows the new top design. The dome might not stay some other greeble like thing may take it's place. One of the reasons Im redoing this area is to provide a way to get people into this thing. Crew will embark via a ramp that connects to the back of the uppermost deck. The control room is sunken into this area. With rooms surrounding it lower decks would have laymans quarters and all the mechanicals associated with the ship. The dome would be com deflector and sensor bays. Basicly a small room with a half fround room surrounded by removable modules. Warp core would be a small unit similar to the runabouts on the lower decks. The impulse is mostly vertical and mostly on the lower deck with feeds to the emitters. (just enough room for the crew loading area. I will have other "doors" for access least I hope I left enough room for a turbolift port if not it would be a jeffries type hatchway. Either way as I said heh this thing wont be used much. Least I dont plan on it. (just as much as I ever see pauls SOV yacht being detached from the host ship. )
oh yeah, I yanked the forward windows off in anticipation of some details I wanted to model, wether those come to frutition is another matter.

OHh idea maybe Ill cut the tube access into the dome some similar to some od the earlier bridge designs?

Cool! I like it this way alot better. Perhaps you could consider stashing the impulse engines in the Nacelle struts? If you need to make room for other schtuff that is...

Cheers

Holly crap this is coming out nicely!!! Just love the new look of the galaxy class you just spit out. Although I am a little bit less fond of your captain's yatch...if I look at the whole ship it has this sleek cool design and then I look just at the yath is ...chubby!? I mean I looks great don't mind me but it would look better if it had a sleeker look like her mother ship, for example the captain's yath in ST:Insurrection. Overall everything looks too great for me to critisize, but its just that small chubby looking yatch... although it can be just the look your going for that was just me opinion. Keep at it bud it looks awesome, I just love it!!!

Welcome to the world of SCIFI!!!

Well theres even less room in the struts given the warp poo that runs in em. Guess I coulda swept them upwards like the bottoms then modeled them on that way, given the shuttles and runabouts had such small mechanicals for the impulse. Lets just say this bugger is fast in sublight.
Either way since Im replying here is a quick render of the hatchway for inter ship movement. Itll basicly dump you into the control room. Things will be tight, but I doubt Ill go much further than the exterior.

[edit] the yacht is a mix between the bean thing from the D and the sleek door wedge of the SOV. Not to mention Im working with a prexisting shape. I designed and modeled the sensor array before I turned it into a small dockable ship.

OK I think I am as far as I should go for detail on the main hull for now. I think it's time for the nacels. Im thinking of continuing the edgy look to them. Stepping them inward etc The over all shape will remain though. I wont be in keeping with that shutles/etc resemble the sister ship thing that has been so common in latter trek.
As well keep in mid this has to drop out of a recess in the main hull. I refuse to include moving parts.

Moving parts hinges etc are
1 weak point
2 prone to break
3 adds to matinence
4 and means Id have to screw with stupid crap every time I wanna yank this out of the hull.

Attachment 20426Attachment 20427Attachment 20428

lol just relised what time it is so maybe the nacels wait till tomorrow morning, uh , I mean afternoon, lol

I think I need to spend some time clearing some of the poly density on this project. This will most likely be the next phase of this once I finish up this little yacht thing. Only thing is I cannot think of where or how Ill go about this to accualy make any diffrence short of clearing edges off flat surfaces or sacrificing some of the curves on objects. The last image was a painful 12min render. . . . .
