FASA Remora class

Hi all,

It's time to make an attempt at one of those funky FASA starship designs. I always liked the Remora class escort from the old Tactical Combat Simulator that FASA put out in the 80's so I figured I'd give that a go.

I'm starting off by doing up a generic TMP-era saucer, I've been working on this for a while so the first bunch of pics uploaded will show my progress so far. For starters, the saucer was just basic lathed shape with the deflector grid-lines cut into the hull as shown in the first two pics. The second two show the beginnings of the bridge module.

After the bridge was done to my liking, I switched to the bottom. As with the deflector grid, the details are etched into the hull using negative extrudes and chamfers. The underside sensor dome and lighting thingamajigs (very technical term there) followed, basically boxes with a lot of vertice moving.

Great start ! You're very quick at making progress I don't know those "FASA" designs so I'm eager to see how this one looks in the end

Many moons later, I discovered the Optimize modifier in Max. Great thing, cleaned up my mess of edges very nicely.

Thanks Somacruz145, here's what the end result will (hopefully) look like.

So finally after a lot of cursing and swearing and experimenting, here's where I am today. I'm stopping on the saucer for the moment (as the saying goes, "Close enough for goverment work") and am going to attempt to work out the shape of the secondary hull with the limited references available.

Looks like it's going to be an interesting ship When it comes to limited references, it reminds me a bit of my Ent's Delta ship The images are small so you can't make out a lot of details but on the other side you can let your imagination run wild and do whatever you please You did an awesome job on the saucer so I'm sure the rest will be just as impressive.
