well, I like to think I have an idea of what I'm doing, but my last-ditch effort will probably always be to take it in to a shop.

good luck, Deks.

Good luck with the hard drive recovery attempt, man, I know how that hurts.
Yes I did have the fighter with the Nightfire (and I intend to remodel it so it could look a bit better).
Still should if I'm not mistaken though.
Most of my old files are on the desktop hard drive (to which I have clear access to).
I just want to avoid completely rebuilding the new Nightfire mesh unless absolutely necessary.

Deks, while it is indeed a shame about the HDD Failure (Whats with 3d artists and HDD failures?!) I'm sure you can finish this. I remember seeing the original several years ago, looking forward to your continued progress! One of my alltime favorite Trek designs. Good work.

Bad news.
It would appear the old laptop HDD is unusable.
I got a decent adapter through which I can connect a laptop HDD to the desktop motherboard.
Final results:
Neither BIOS wouldn't detect it or Windows.
There are a few options left I haven't tried yet, but at the moment I lack the means to test them out.

So it would appear I have to remodel this thing again.
Hm ... I'll have to search for the older version on my desktop ...
If the nacelles haven't been preserved ... then I'll have to redo them as well.

Good news.

Looks like I transferred one of the newer Nightfire files onto the desktop HDD.
The nacelles are intact ... apart from the fact there are no internal warp coils.
Hm ... this might be a good chance to remodel the nacelle interior so the coils would fit with the overall outer nacelle shape.
Some modifications to the overall design would be in order as well.
Nothing major, but enough so it does not look exactly like a larger Voyager.

Right ... I have to stretch out the pylons more among other things ...

Well the loss isn't that big.
Same thing is with my writing.
Did some memory checking, and sitting down for a few hours writing the novel I'd fill out the holes and make some subtle changes to enhance the flow of the story.

Ho boy, does this thread bring back old memories

Looking forward to seeing you finish this one someday!
Hardware failures are nasty, I frequently have to inform my clients of such a loss. Some even react like one of their favourite pets was put to sleep

Hey, Deks

Maybe you could show us some new eye-candy of your NX-01 - just for the newer members , So that they can appreciate what fantastic art you can create.
