I decided to start from scratch as the previous version details lacked chamfered edges on areas that are virtually essential for closeups. In any case ... the bussard collectors are not permanent. I'll remodel them into something different and create some internal details like I did for the part that contains the warp coils (to leave the coils exposed like that ... I shall think about it ... but ultimately I'll have to model some kind of protective thin surface). The neck area that connects to the upper extrusion on the saucer which will hold the bridge (and should be 2 decks high) will be thickened so I can model larger observation windows like before ... and besides, I miss that thicker look. Virtually everything will remain the same apart from some obvious changes. And some of you will remember the previous nacelles which resembled a fish and had fins (that was a bad design as I just had 0 clue on what would look good). Well, these (the ones in the posted images) are something I came up with during work (I made a sketch that I will upload along with the old version of the saucer section). The poly count thus far is at about 500 k. ![]() The nacelles are the ones that are virtually upping the poly count and will have to be optimized most definitely a bit more. Still, the ship is bound to be heavy with all the details I will be putting onto it. Tomorrow I'll post some images of the previous version to give you a better idea on what will be done :-) |

Right now I only have 1 more interview to do ... and that's next Thursday. If everything goes ok, I should get the visa right after that and I'm going to London on June 8th at the latest. And right now it's 3:10 am. Man I haven't done something like this in a long time ... and my modeling skills could be a bit rusty ... Still, if this ship turns out to be a monster in the end (heavy on poly count), I couldn't care less if the quality will be good. :-) |

Took me some fiddling to find the shape I really liked from numerous angles. Then again, I have to be mindful of the practicality of the pylons and how much access they offer to the nacelles via turbo-lifts for example or another system of transport. The pylons will probably undergo minor changes over time, but I wouldn't bet on an overhaul. | |
