Looking forward to seeing more of the Surak. Great work on the Raptor. Will the mesh for the Surak be available when it's complete?

Of course, if you want any of the meshes I made, feel free to ask I'm doing the models only because it's my hobby so it's logical for me to share my creations

back to the Surak, I had absolutely no time to do any big updates but I started cutting out the plates and set the Interpid at her side ... the scene showing the NX and Surak together was really nice so I tried to ... uh ... recreate it ...

I plan to finish the top hull today so stay tuned

somacruz, I may have missed it, but what do you use for rendering?

from the few reflections we can see, that "gold" material looks really good. Definitely consider Ozy's suggestion about HDRI. As I tried to explain earlier, I think the "bland" look is mostly due to the lack of a surrounding environment to reflect off the "gold."

Yeah, my gold material seems to be nice only when it has some stuff to reflect but even then the reflection are too dark. I'm going to look into HDRI tomorrow and hopefully I'll make something better
When it comes to the rendering, I'm using mental ray at 16-64 samples per pixel.

oh, I don't know, I think it looks great dark like that. I suppose the reflections could be a little less sharp.
