| well...... now I'm starting to get irritated. The error reappeared, and where before I could just delete the offending element this time it managed to infect the whole part. so all the progress of the last three days is lost. I have never had this error occur on any other project. ever.... and now it's practically shut me down. If it does this again I may have to completely restart the project. |

Plus I have 2gigs for max to play with. There is something inside this file that is screwing up. and considering I didn't have this problem before I started on the bays, there is something inside those elements that is causing the error. I thought that I had it isolated down to the part I rebuilt, but once I copied a part from the back greeble, around where the bays meet the piers, it happened again. So I probably won't have to restart from scratch, but I will almost certainly have to delete all the greebling on the bays. possibly the bays and towers as well. I'll be back to where I was several pages ago.

| probably won't have to completely start over, and even if I did, I would try to save as much of the mesh as I could. try outputting to an .obj file into a new file. try to keep it as isolated from the old file as possible. Plus I do have some older saves. (one of the best lessons I learned in my graphics classes). I can just start over from where I finished the gondola, or the piers. No worries. It may slow me down, but it won't stop me. |

| sometimes i have that kind of problems. this can be from so many sources. sometimes, i can fix it with a simple new empty scene in witch i merge the old one. if the problem comes back, i isolate the bad object (one by one to be sure) and i just make it again. |

| If you like you can send me the file, ill resave it as a new .max file then send it back that should sort any issues with it being a file problem if that doesnt work then you know its just a software issue. I have both max 8 and 9 so I can match compatability to either for you. Would be a total crime to have you restart such splendid work. |

Anyway I've made a new file, deleted all the mesh that could possibly be in error, and began recreating the bay structure. With any luck this will solve the problem. If not then I may try exporting the mesh again. Who knows.
