Wait I think ive figured it, your error message does indeed refer to a texture issue, that texture map wasnt available to me when I render it just come up missing texture when I opened the file. So max automatically forgets it, but in your case I think you've either saved your texture in grey scale or theres a problem with it. Try dissabling the texture map then render again see if that fixes it.

ya that was one of the threads I found. Doesn't make any sense though. I've had my virtual memory up around 1250 the whole time. Seems like the guy was having the same problem as me too. you could add all the geometry you want without consequences, but the second you add something it didn't like it failed.

well, I downloaded your file, and it won't even open. max doesn't recognize it.

SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all that work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad ::mad :

lol

I can't figure out how that error could have happened though. Everything is supposed to have the same material anyway. lol.

damn it! now I have to go back and redownload all my service packs, redo all my shader unlocks. lol.

Re: An unexpected exception has occured in the network renderer and it is terminatin
Got this error, nailed it down to a texture error, more specifically a TGA that I was using was saved as greyscale in Photoshop. Converted it to RGB, problems solved. The more specific error that popped up in max was:

DB 0.5 fatal 041008: attempt to acess null DB tag

lesson learned is dont save TGAs in grayscale.

ya it worked. can't understand how it did that though. Only applied textures were procedurals. no texture maps. only material that had maps at all was the default space panels map. lol.

Crazy how something as simple as materials can mess up the whole renderer software. Well atleast we've both learned how to fix this issue if it ever pops up again, and we've also learned our copies of max 9 really dont like each other . I look forward to more updates.

yep. I found out what the material error was, and why it would screw up every time I copied polys. Apparenty max decided that one polygon could have two separate materials. I looked at the mesh one poly at a time and found one polygon. All this hell for one polygon. lol.

Next update should be interesting. I'm going to combine work from my last three files to help replace what was deleted.

Update!

with all right in the world again I finally am back to where I should be. In fact I didn't lose any of the details I have fought for over the last couple of days.

I'll have another couple of shots a little later. But for now, a shot with all of the details lost along the way.

ok. enough for the night. lol. added a little tribute easter egg.

I'll go ahead and spoil it for those who can't read furthark. The name of one very helpful ninja, and the error code that has been the bane of my existence for a couple of days.

probably won't stay there, at least not so blatantly but I had to make the gesture.
