Looking good, tho you've prolly missed something.

Are there gonna be doors or forcefeilds for the 'hangers'??

Force fields. I really don't see the efficiency of having hard doors. In the Stargate universe if you ever lose your shields you have about 2minutes to live before your ship goes away(exceptions if the heroes are on board, or if it's Atlantis ).

anyway, updated the thumbnail animation.

Wow the previous images are outstanding ! I'm not into StarGate but this is really impressive. Nice animation on thumbnail too ; Nicely shows the scale of the monster

well. I managed last night to get a little preliminary work done, and test my shaders. Not much, but I thought I would post. I'll have to see what all of the lights do for the overall brightness of the scene, but right now they are really dark. The final shot will have the station inside a nebula, but I still haven't thought of a way to pull that off with anything close to decent results, so I'm going to work in a vacuum first.

It s abit dark to really see anything but from what i can see the bump is waaay to high. You wouldn't be able to see any differences from this far out.

ya I turned it down after that render. it's about 1/3 that now. keep in mind that in the final map I'll use the bump only for panel lines. I just slapped in the stock max space panels for use on smaller elements that don't require individual maps, but applied it to the whole scene to get my specularity right.

reworked the glow to be a bit brighter and more color balanced.

and finished a few more of the basic textures of the umbilical sections.

the land texture is for the arboretum type structure. Something Raynor thought he would want so it's in there. I need to find a better texture for it though. That one is an old planet set I had and threw it in there. if I can find something a little more to scale I'll use that instead.

textures should show up better if I can ever figure out a good nebula environment. Lots of light bouncing around from several directions will help light the place up. I kind of like the moody blacked out look though.

anyway, update! other than doing the unwrap on the surface, this should be a good representation of the finished umbilical sections. Also the window texture I'm using here is sort of the distance map. On high visual traffic areas like the city I will probably full unwrap.
